With summer coming to an end (and my birthday right around the corner 🎉), I caught myself feeling tempted to do what I used to do: jump into tougher workouts and cut calories to “get back on track.”

But here’s the truth: I’m not doing that anymore.

And here’s why.

Why Restrictive Dieting Doesn’t Work

That old approach only keeps you stuck.

  • It slows down your metabolism, meaning you have to eat less and less to lose weight and stay lean.

  • It ramps up stress & cortisol, which tells your body to hold onto fat—especially around your belly.

  • It keeps you trapped in the endless cycle of being “on a diet” or “off a diet,” with no balance in between.

I’ve been there. I’ve done it too many times to know that it never works long term.

Instead, I’m choosing a smarter way forward—one that supports my body instead of fighting it.
